![]() ![]() I can't attach my document to the template that was created. ![]() ![]() The path I follow is: File, Options, Add- Inns, Templates, Go, Attach. I attempt to attach my document to the template. Click on the template you want to attach and it will open. The default personal template location is selected on the "Attach Template" dialog box. The default folder for personal templates is displayed on the "New" screen when you create a custom template. If you want to create your own personal templates and access them from the Start or New screen, you should create a My Templates folder. ![]() You can access your personal templates from the Start or New screen after setting up your personal templates folder. In the Options dialog box, you can specify your personal templates folder. Personal templates can be found in Word by default. The Normal template and templates downloaded from are not the same as the custom personal templates. The program should change to the correct location for custom templates. If you change the location of your user and/or workgroup folders, it will change the location of all Office programs, not just Word. You can see the folders in which Word presumes you store both user templates and workgroup templates in the File Locations dialog box. The Office Setup program may have set these locations. The usual location for document templates is the User Templates and Workgroup Templates folders. The location will be determined by version of Word as well as the operating system.įor the variations, see the bottom of How to Open the Normal template. "Microsoft Office" is the name of this folder. If it is on the same computer as the User Templates folder, it should be in the folder that holds the Templates folder. Look at any of the sample forms listed under additional materials for an example of templates designed for placement in Workgroup folders.
